Validator rewards explained
Validator rewards are the portion of Canton Coin issuance paid to operators of active validator nodes. The network's minting schedule divides new CC among the roles that sustain it, and the validator share compensates the base layer of participation: running a participant node, validating your parties' transactions, and remaining live on the network.
Earning them is deliberately unlike proof-of-stake yield. No capital is staked and no tokens are locked; the reward accrues to demonstrated operation, tracked through the liveness records the network keeps for each validator. This makes the reward an incentive for decentralization itself, since each new independent operator strengthens the network's footprint regardless of treasury size.
Reward amounts per validator are not a durable constant. The issuance schedule declines over time by design, the validator population grows, and governance can re-weight shares between super validators, validators, and featured applications through the public proposal process. Anyone modeling validator economics should read the current tokenomics parameters rather than extrapolating a snapshot.
Together with traffic-fee burning, validator rewards form the circular flow of the CC economy: operation earns the token that usage burns.
