Pool reserves explained
Pool reserves are the two asset balances a liquidity pool holds at a given moment. They are the pool's entire pricing input: the ratio between the reserves sets the current marginal exchange rate, and their absolute size sets how much trading the pool can absorb before that rate moves materially.
Every event in a pool's life is a change to its reserves. A swap adds one asset and removes the other along the pricing curve; a liquidity deposit raises both balances without moving the ratio; a withdrawal lowers both. Fees accumulate in the reserves too, which is how provider positions appreciate. Reading a pool's reserves over time tells you more about its real usefulness than any single headline number.
Two pools can quote the same rate while offering very different execution. A pool with large reserves absorbs a sizable trade with minor price impact; a shallow pool quoting the identical ratio will move sharply on the same order. This is why OneSwap prints raw reserve figures on its swap pages rather than only USD aggregates, and why quotes are computed from live reserves at request time.
